Area Auditions were held at Abilene Christian University on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Thirteen HHS Band students advanced from All-Region auditions to Area: Robert Aron, Brittany Baptista, Adam Buttyan, Caroline Cannon, Ben Carroll, Rahul Dadwani, Kelsie Dunham, Eric Kalbfleisch, Chris Lee, Greg Newton, Amber Rzeznik, Jennie Sung, and Andrew Winker.

These dedicated band students worked extremely hard after All-Region auditions in preparation for this trip, enduring extra rehearsals, practice time, intense one-on-one training with clinicians, and a number of mock auditions in front of peers, directors, private lesson teachers, clinicians, middle school students, families, and anyone willing to listen! They developed a strong friendship and united as a team to support one another throughout the Area preparation and audition process.

All of the students improved significantly from All-Region auditions, and we congratulate each student for their accomplishments!! The following students advanced to the 2010-2011 Texas All-State Band and will perform at the TMEA Convention in San Antonio in February: Caroline Cannon (clarinet), Amber Rzeznik (clarinet), Robert Aron (clarinet), Chris Lee (bass clarinet), Greg Newton (alto sax), Ben Carroll (French horn), Kelsie Dunham (trumpet), Andrew Winker (euphonium).
