Anna May Ghaly received her Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance from the University of Kansas and a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance from Wichita State University. She has held positions in the San Angelo Symphony, Texas Wind Symphony, Wichita Symphony, Lawrence Chamber Players, Topeka Symphony, Lone Star Wind Orchestra and the Northland Symphony.

She has freelanced in the DFW metroplex for 16 years in addition to teaching in HEB, Coppell, Carrollton-Farmers Branch, Frisco and Lewisville School Districts.

Anna May now performs with the Stonebriar Winds and the All About 5 Woodwind Quintet. She has been a clinician and performer at TX Music Educators Convention for 3 years.

Jennifer M. Daffinee received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Summa Cum Laude (2005), and was the Head Band Director of the Bowie Middle School Band in Irving, Texas from 2005-2007.

Ms. Daffinee received her Master of Music degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce, Summa Cum Laude (2009) in Clarinet Performance where she is currently Professor of Woodwind Methods for undergraduate studies.

Mrs. Daffinee has taught privately since 2001 and has been an active lesson coach, adjudicator, clinician, guest lecturer and guest artist at many school districts in the coastal bend and north Texas areas including Corpus Christi, Tuloso Midway, Irving, Grand Prairie, Mesquite, Forney, Lewisville, Highland Park, Allen, Gunter, Cooper and Celina ISDs, Region IV and Region XX, and at Texas A&M University-Commerce. She has presented at the 2007 Texas Music Educator's Association and assisted with presentation at the 2008 International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest. In 2008 she performed in Carnegei Hall under the baton of H. Robert Reynolds.

Mrs. Daffinee has also performed in masterclasses for many internationally acclaimed artists such as Dr. Elsa Ludewig-Verdehr (Michigan State University, Ret.), Dr. Howard Klug (Indiana University), Dr. Gary Whitman (TCU), Dr. Richard Shanley (Baylor University), Michael Norsworthy (The Boston Conservatory), Greg Raden (Dallas Symphony Orchestra), the West Point Military Academy Clarinet Quartet (United States Army Band), Jim Logan (United States Navy Band, Washington D.C.), and Dr. Michael Dean (South East Missouri State University).

carol maciel CarolMaciel

Carol Maciel is an Adjunct Professor of Clarinet, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and Private Instructor. Mrs. Maciel has a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baylor University, a Master of Music degree in Performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music , and is currently working towards a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of North Texas.

As a private instructor for Lewisville Independent School District, Carol has taught for the Hebron band middle school cluster for nine years and in the process has continued with her students into Hebron High school where her students have received honors in the Texas All-State band and First division ratings and Outstanding Soloist honors in the Solo and Ensemble competitions.

Mrs. Maciel currently performs regularly as a substitute performer with the San Angelo Symphony, and has performed with the UNT Wind Symphony and may be found on the GIA Teaching Music Through Performance in Band recordings for 2004-2006. She has also performed with the American Wind Symphony and the Kansas City Lyric Opera.

Euphonium

jeremy mcbride JeremyMcBride

Jeremy McBride currently works as a full time private music instructor and freelance musician in the Dallas and Forth Worth area. He was trained by his euphonium idol, world renowned euphonium virtuoso Dr. Brian Bowman. He is also a member of the Lone Star Wind Orchestra under the direction of Eugene Corporon and the newly formed Dallas Civic Wind Ensemble.

Jeremy has been very successful as a competitor. He has won first prize at the prestigious Leonard Falcone International Euphonium Competition, second prize at the Potomac Euphonium Competition, and has been a finalist in many others. Jeremy has also won the concerto competitions of both Baylor University and the University of North Texas.

Jeremy has been a featured soloist at the International Tuba Euphonium Conference 2006 and Texas Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference 2007. He has also been a soloist with The UNT symphony orchestra, UNT Wind Symphony, and The Baylor University Wind Ensemble.

He can be heard on recordings of such ensembles as the Dallas Wind Symphony, Lone Star Wind Orchestra, Imperial Brass, University of North Texas Wind Symphony, and the Baylor University Wind Ensemble.

Flute

julee kim walker Julee KimWalker

Julee Kim Walker, (BM University of Texas at Austin, MM San Francisco Conservatory of Music) resides near Dallas, TX, where she maintains an active studio and is currently completing her Doctoral studies at the University of North Texas under the tutelage of Terri Sundberg.

Ms. Walker is Adjunct Professor of Flute at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she performs regulary with fellow faculty and gives recitals and master classes throughout Texas and Oklahoma. She is also Adjunct Instructor of Woodwinds at Eastfield College in Mesquite, TX, and has also been a Doctoral Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas.

She is the Piccoloist of the South Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed with the Las Colinas Symphony Orchestra, the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra as Principal flutist, the North Texas Wind Symphony, and the American Wind Symphony Orchestra. She can be heard on Klavier Recording Project and GIA WindWorks. She has also performed with many members of the world renowned UNT Jazz 1 o'clock Lab Band, and has had many performances and tours throughout the US and Europe. Her former teachers include September Payne, Christina Jennings, Karl Kraber, and Tim Day.

karen eichinger KarenEichinger

Ms. Eichinger has loved music her entire life. She grew up singing in church and at school, and started playing the flute in sixth grade. She holds a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in flute performance, and has won several competitions on flute and piccolo. She teaches private lessons in flute and piccolo, and performs locally with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. She has a wonderful husband and a young daughter who loves Kindermusik! Ms Eichinger's goal is to have students who are excited about music and about learning.

Oboe

james hobbs James Hobbs

Dr. James Hobbs has been instructor of oboe at Texas Woman's University since 2002. His publications include "Marcello's Concerto in D Minor for Oboe, Strings and Basso Continuo: A View of Its Origin and Use in J. S. Bach's Concerto III for Solo Harpsichord, BWV 974," published in The Journal of the International Double Reed Society, and "Six Sonates pour une Flute et Basse ou Hautbois et Basse" by Ernst Eichner: A Performing Edition with Critical Commentary, published in University Microfilmes International. Dr. Hobbs was awarded the first ever Bill Taylor Memorial Award for outstanding musicianship at Northeast Louisiana University and graduated Cum Laude. He currently maintains a busy teaching schedule as well as performing in numerous professional groups including the Wichita Falls Symphony Orchestra, the East Texas Symphony Orchestra and the Richardson Symphony Orchestra.

Saxophone

Mr. Holmes received his Bachelor of Music degree from West Texas A&M University where he studied with saxophone virtuoso Don Lefevre. He has played in many groups including the Metropolitan Winds where he acted as guest soloist twice with performances at the Meyerson Symphony Center. He also performed with the Pecos River Brass Big Band, the Paragon Saxophone Quartet and the Swingtones. Some career highlights include a soprano saxophone solo on the "Sing for the Cure" CD and a duet with Grammy Award Winning trumpet player Arturo Sandoval.

noel wallace NoelWallace

Musical educator, performer, and scholar Noel Wallace, holds a bachelor degree in music from the Eastman School of Music, a masters degree in music from Penn State University, and has completed all but dissertation for a doctorate of musical arts from the University of North Texas. In addition, Mr. Wallace holds a performance certificate from the Rotterdam Conservatory, in The Netherlands and a high school diploma in performance from the Interlochen Arts Academy. His teachers include Jan and Vern Kagarice, Jeannie Little, Tom Riccobono, John Marcellus, Don Harry, Ralph Sauer, Mark Lusk, and Ben van Dijk.

As an educator Mr. Wallace currently holds collegiate teaching positions at Texas Women’s University and Brookhaven College. Previous college teaching positions include a graduate teaching assistantship at Penn State University and a graduate teaching fellowship at the University of North Texas. Mr. Wallace also teaches private lessons in the Hebron cluster of the Lewisville Independent School District and Lake Highlands High School of the Richardson Independent School District.

Mr. Wallace has performed with a wide variety of ensembles from the Eastman Wind Ensemble to the University of North Texas Symphony Orchestra. During his time in The Netherlands, Mr. Wallace performed projects with the Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, Continuo Rotterdam and the Rotterdam Conservatory Trombone Choir. As member of the Eastman Trombone Choir and Bionic Bones he has appeared at three International Trombone Festivals, once as a Remington Trombone Choir Competition winner and once as a Kai Winding Jazz Trombone Ensemble Competition winner. While in Pennsylvania he played two seasons as second trombonist in the Altoona Symphony Orchestra as well as one summer season in the Music in Penn’s Woods Festival Orchestra as well as Hershey Park’s All-Star College Band. Currently Mr. Wallace holds a position as bass trombonist with the San Angelo Symphony in west Texas.

Currently living in Dallas, Texas Mr. Wallace shares his passion and love for music with his wife and favorite soprano, Alicia Wallace.

Lacey has enjoyed a career in numerous settings. She has performed at numerous national and international music festivals, competitions, conferences and concert halls throughout the world including: The 7th International Music and Arts Festival in St. Peter's Basilica at the Vatican, Carnegie Hall, The Verdi Opera House (Italy), Wichita Grand Opera (Kansas),The National Trumpet Competition, The International Trumpet Guild Conference, Campos do Jordao (Brazil), Musica Riva Festival (Italy), Young Euro Classic (Berlin), Menton Music Festival (France), The Music Festival for Peace (Chicago), Le Domaine Forget (Canada), Aspen Music Festival (Colorado), and Spoleto USA (South Carolina). Lacey is a member of the Imperial Brass of Dallas, TX. She is the US Coordinator for the Alfredo San Malo Music Festival of Panama where she also serves as Trumpet Faculty/Artist in Residence every summer. Most recently, Lacey has been invited to perform at the CCM Spoleto Festival in Italy.

Lacey holds Undergraduate Degrees from the University of Oklahoma in Instrumental Music Education and Trumpet Performance while her Master of Music is from the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University in Houston, TX. She is in the final phase of completing a Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Oklahoma where she serves as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet. She also teaches as an Adjunct Professor of Music and Trumpet at Mountain View College in Dallas. Lacey has given numerous master classes throughout the US and abroad. In addition to her collegiate duties she teaches private lessons and presents regular master classes at Hebron High School in Carrolton, Texas, a national award-winning music program that was chosen as a 2010-2011 Texas Honor Band and was recently selected to perform at the prestigious Midwest Band Clinic.

Lacey has played under the baton of Placido Domingo, Valery Gergiev, Gustavo Dudamel, Carlos Miguel Prieto, Marco Boemi, Helmuth Rilling, Larry Rachleff, Julius Rudel and Itzhak Perlman. Her primary teachers are Karl Sievers, Mare Speziale, Jacob Larson, Frank "Pancho" Romero, Susan Clothier and Mauro Maur. She freelances in the Dallas area where she resides with her husband Chad, a railroad conductor, along with Ms. Priss and Pepper (their cat & dog respectively).

Tuba

alex cauthen AlexCauthen

Alex Cauthen is a Musician in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. He is in demand as a performer, arranger, teacher, clinician, and conductor; his work has brought him recognition, both locally and nationally.

Currently performing as Principal Tuba in the Dallas Wind Symphony since 1990, he has performed with the Ft. Worth Symphony, the New Orleans Philharmonic Orchestra, the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, the Mississippi Opera Orchestra, the Richardson Symphony, the Shreveport Symphony, the Longview Symphony, the Wichita Falls Symphony and numerous others. He is experienced in every venue of music performance from classical to studio recordings. Commercial recordings include his work on both trombone and tuba.

He is also active in music for the tuba, founding and performing with professional ensembles such as the Capital Brass, the Dallas Wind Symphony Euphonium/Tuba Quartet, and the Dallas Tuba Quartet. As tuba clinician and soloist, he appeared at the Louisiana Bandmaster’s Association, the Texas Music Educators’ Association, the TUBA International Convention, the Oklahoma Bandmasters Association and OctubaFest activities at the University of Texas at Arlington, Texas Christian University, Bethel College (TN), and the University of North Texas. As a conductor, Mr. Cauthen has directed bands on the secondary and university level as well as Honor Bands in the Regional and State level in the South. He has guest conducted festival performances of many ensembles including the Texas University Trombone Teachers Ensemble (TUTTE), the Dallas Blast o’Brass, with Michael Mulchahy trombone soloist, and most recently, the Dallas TUBACHRISTMAS.

He has published many solos for tuba and euphonium, tuba ensembles, trombone choir and brass choir. His works have been performed by several university bands, the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Texas Wind Symphony, the Dallas Wind Symphony Brass Choir and bands throughout the country. He has also arranged commercially for television and recordings, with nationally released recordings of numerous pieces. He has arranged numerous collections for the standard tuba-euphonium quartet.

His former tuba and euphonium students are teaching at the high school and college level and several are performing professionally with Washington D.C. service bands.

He studied tuba principally with Raymond Young, nationally known euphonium soloist and with Arnold Jacobs of the Chicago Symphony, and further study with Joe Hebert of the American Symphony. His composition and arranging teachers included Andrew Fox (University of Mississippi) and John Paynter (Northwestern University).

Mr. Cauthen’s teaching credentials include teaching in the public schools of Texas and Mississippi. He has been Assistant Professor of Music and Associate Director of Bands at Louisiana Tech University, Instrumental Director at CFN Institute, Instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Texas Christian University, and held similar positions at Midwestern State University and Centenary College and was Visiting Lecturer of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of North Texas.

Mr. Cauthen approaches teaching, performing and composing with enthusiasm from a wide and vivid background of interests.
